OATMEAL BREAD 
1/2 c. quick cooking oats
1 c. boiling water
2 tsp. butter
1/4 c. or 4 tbsp. brown sugar
1 pkg. yeast
1/4 c. warm water for yeast
1 c. milk
2 tsp. salt
5 c. flour
Salad oil or shortening

Cook oats 5 minutes, stir in butter and brown sugar. Cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water and mix into cereal mixture. Mix in milk and salt. Sift flour, measure, then gradually mix in 1 cupful at a time, making a soft dough. Turn out on lightly floured board and knead lightly. Shape into loaf and place in greased 9 x 5 inch pan. Lightly brush top of loaf with oil. Cover and let rise in warm place, until almost double in bulk. Bake in 350 degree oven for 45 minutes, or until bread is golden brown. Makes 2 loaves or 1 large loaf.
