1 c. white sugar
1 c. Crisco
2 1/2 c. flour
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
Pinch of salt
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg, salt, vanilla, flour, soda and cream of tartar. Make in small balls, flatten with glass bottom. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes.
