ALMOND BUTTERMILK CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 eggs
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
3 c. plain flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 c. buttermilk

Cream butter, eggs, sugar, vanilla and almond. Combine flour, soda and salt together and add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, making sure it's well blended. Pour in a 9 x 13 inch pan or tube pan and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Cool and frost with Almond Glaze. Garnish with slivered almonds.

ALMOND GLAZE:

2 tsp. melted butter
1 tsp. almond extract
2 c. confectioners' sugar
Approximately 1 tsp. milk

Frost cooled cake and garnish with slivered almonds.

If using a tube pan bake for approx.one hour.

Glaze is way to sweet. Cut sugar down to one cup or less and add more almond extract and more milk until thin as a glaze should be. Use unsalted butter
