PERFECT DILL PICKLES 
Wash and scrub 14 to 15 pounds cucumbers (4 to 6 inch long). In hot jars, pack cucumbers with sprig of dill on bottom and top. Sprinkle 1 tablespoons sugar and 1 pinch of alum to each quart.

BRINE:

13 c. water
6 c. vinegar
1 c. pickling salt

Bring to boil. Pour brine over cucumbers. Seal. Hot water bath 20 minutes.
