1/2 lb. butter
1 3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. milk
4 1/2 c. flour

Cream butter and sugar well. Add eggs, salt, soda, vanilla and milk; mix well. Add flour a little at a time.
