OATMEAL CARAMEL BARS 
1 c. butter
2 1/2 c. all purpose flour
2 c. packed brown sugar
3 c. (quick cooking) rolled oats
1 (6 oz.) package (1 c.) semi sweet chocolate pieces
1/2 c. nuts (chopped)
7 oz. vanilla caramels
2 tbsp. milk
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda

In a large bowl, beat butter with electric mixer on medium speed for 30 seconds. Add 1 cup of flour, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla, soda. Beat until mixture is combined. Stir in flour and oats. Press 2/3 (about 3 1/2 cups) of the dough into ungreased 15 x 10 x 1 inch Pyrex. Sprinkle with chocolate pieces and nuts.

In a small sauce pan combine vanilla caramels and milk. Let caramels melt over low heat. Drizzle this mixture over chocolate and nuts. drop remaining 1/3 of the dough by teaspoon over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool and cut.
