BROWN BEEF STEW 
1 lb. boneless stewing beef
salt and pepper to taste
flour and drippings (or other fat)
1/ c. water
3 potatoes, diced
2 onions, sliced
3 carrots, diced
1 c. raw peas

Cut meat into 1 inch cubes. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Roll in flour and brown in the fat. Add water, cover and simmer until almost tender, 2 to 3 hours. Add vegetables, season with salt and pepper and continue to simmer until vegetables are done, stirring occasionally.
