DEEP FRIED OKRA | |
2 c. fresh tender okra 1/2 c. Tenda-Bake self-rising meal 1/4 tsp. salt 1 egg 1/2 c. buttermilk Wash and trim okra. Cut into 1/2-inch slices crosswise. Heat oil to 375 degrees. Beat egg; add buttermilk and salt. Mix well. Put about 1/3 cup okra into mixture. Remove with slotted spoon and place in meal, rolling gently to coat okra. Place in hot oil and let brown about 4 or 5 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Repeat with rest of okra. Serve hot. |
