FRESH APPLE CAKE 
1 1/4 c. oil
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
4 or 5 c. chopped apples
1 c. chopped pecans
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Mix oil, sugar, eggs and vanilla; add apples and nuts. Stir in flour, soda, salt and cinnamon. Spread in ungreased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour 15 minutes.

TOPPING:

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. dark corn syrup
1 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla
Dash of salt

Combine ingredients and cook 10 minutes. Pour on warm cake.
