8 c. thin sliced cucumbers 1 c. green peppers (cut in ring slices) 1 c. celery, cut thin 1 c. onion, cut thin 1 1/2 tbsp. salt (canning salt) 2 c. sugar 1 c. vinegar (white) 1 tsp. celery seed 1 tsp. mustard seed Soak the cucumbers in cold water. Drain and add green peppers, celery, onion and salt. Mix together and let stand 1/2 hour. Drain off excess juice but don't rinse. Mix sugar, vinegar, celery seed and mustard seed. Heat that mixture until sugar dissolves and pour over cucumbers. Put in covered container and keep in refrigerator. Keeps very long time! |
