EASY YELLOW LAYER CAKE 
2 c. sifted Martha White all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1/3 c. butter
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 2 (9") round or 8" square cake pans. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt into large mixer bowl. Measure all remaining ingredients into bowl with flour. Beat at low speed of electric mixer for 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly. Turn mixer to high and beat 3 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour into prepared pans. Bake about 30 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes; turn out onto wire rack and cool completely. Frost with your favorite frosting.
