EASY SPAGHETTI SAUCE | |
1 1/2 to 2 lbs. ground beef 1 onion, chopped 1 bell pepper, chopped (optional) 1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms 1 (15 oz.) can tomatoes or 3 or 4 med. fresh tomatoes 1/4 tsp. garlic salt or garlic powder 1/4 tsp. ground oregano 1 tsp. Italian seasoning 1 (32 oz.) jar commercial spaghetti sauce (Prego is best) Salt Salt and brown ground beef. Drain thoroughly. Over medium heat, add onion, pepper and tomatoes. Use spoon to cut tomatoes into small pieces. Add mushrooms, garlic, oregano and Italian seasoning. Turn down heat and let simmer until peppers and onion are done. Stir in jar of sauce. Keep on low heat until ready to serve over cooked spaghetti or other pasta. This will serve 6 to 8 people. Any remaining sauce can be frozen or will keep in the refrigerator for up to a week. |
