1 (5 oz.) can evaporated milk
1 lb. caramels, unwrapped
1/2 c. butter
1 c. chocolate chips
1 c. pecans, chopped
1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix

Prepare cake mix according to package instructions. Put 1/2 batter in 9 x 13 x 2 inch pan (greased and floured) and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Melt butter, caramels, and milk on stove or in microwave; pour over cake mixture. Top with chocolate chips and pecans. Pour remaining batter on top and bake until toothpick comes out clean (20 minutes).
