PINEAPPLE TURNOVERS | |
2 cakes yeast 1/2 c. milk (scalded) 3 tbsp. sugar 4 1/2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 2 c. shortening 2 tbsp. cream 3 eggs Crumble yeast and add warm milk and sugar. When bubbling add flour and salt which has been worked with shortening until like cornmeal. Add cream and eggs (one whole and two yolks) and 3 tablespoons sugar and yeast. Work until smooth adding more flour if necessary. Put in refrigerator until chilled. Roll very thin, cut in rounds. Fill with pineapple (cooked and thickened). Turn over in half and bake in 370 degree oven. Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar. Then eat... FILLING: 1 lg. can crushed pineapple 1 c. sugar 2 heaping tbsp. cornstarch |
