CRANBERRY NUT BREAD 
1 c. cranberries, sliced in half
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 tbsp. dried orange peel
2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. orange juice
1 egg, well beaten

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour pan. Prepare cranberries and nuts. Mix flour, sugar, powder, salt and soda. Cut in shortening. Stir in orange juice, egg, and orange peel, mixing till moistened. Fold in cranberries and nuts. Spoon in prepared pans and bake for 60 minutes or till wooden pick comes out clean. Cool on rack for 15 minutes. Remove and cool completely. Store in refrigerator for quick eating or freezer for later consumption. NOTE: This recipe makes 1 loaf, also batter is extremely thick. Do NOT dilute it down.
