CLAM CHOWDER 
1 med. onion
1/2 c. sliced celery
1/2 c. butter
1 (10 oz.) can minced clams
6 med. - lg. potatoes

WHITE SAUCE:

4 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 c. milk

Saute onion and celery in 1/2 cup butter. Boil peeled potatoes, cut in bite size pieces until tender. Drain potatoes. Add sauteed mixture, clam and juice; mix together. Add prepared white sauce. Season to taste.

SAUCE: Melt butter in pan, add flour, salt and pepper. Stir until smooth and bubbly. Remove from heat. Add milk, stirring constantly to make smooth. Heat until boiling, stirring constantly.
