This is not the British recipe for these flapjacks!!! In Britain they are made with golden syrup, not honey and no egg.

British flapjacks do not contain honey or eggs for sure. But they do contain Golden Syrup..

British do not have raisins or nuts usually and never egg! Honey is an O.K. substitute for the golden syrup but the syrup gives far better flavor.

Where do you buy Golden Syrup in Florida?

Hi Gillie,

Try the International foods section of the supermarket (I've seen it in the Northeast). Otherwise, you might get it from a mail order place. Alternatively, try using 1/4 molasses or honey with 3/4 Karo light syrup.

I made it and it was good, I added nutmeg, mace cinnamon and it was great, for Christmas. I think the egg makes it firmer.
