FRUIT SWIRL COFFEE CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
4 eggs
1 (21 oz.) can pie filling
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. almond extract
3 c. flour

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a jelly roll pan or 2 (9"x9"x2") pans.

Blend sugar, butter, shortening, baking powder, vanilla, almond extract, eggs and flour in large bowl and at a low speed, scrape bowl constantly. Beat 3 minutes more on high speed, scraping occasionally.

Spread 2/3 of batter in jelly roll pan or 1/3 in each square pan. Spread filling over batter. Drop remaining batter by the spoonfuls onto filling. Bake 45 minutes.

While warm, drizzle with glaze. Cut into bars or squares. GLAZE: Mix 1 cup powdered sugar and 1 or 2 tablespoons milk thoroughly.
