BANANA SPICE COOKIES 
1 c. mashed bananas
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and mix well. Stir in bananas. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to mixture. Stir in nuts. Chill for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Drop by teaspoonful on lightly greased cookie sheet. Space 2 inches apart. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 4 dozen. Frost when cool (optional)

FROSTING:

6 tbsp. melted butter
1 1/2 c. confectioners sugar
Hot milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Melt butter, gradually add in sugar. Add just enough hot milk for good spreading consistency. Add vanilla. Spread frosting on cookies.
