APPLE PIE BARS 
DOUGH:

3 c. flour
1 1/4 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 egg, well beaten
5 tbsp. water
1 tbsp. vinegar

APPLE FILLING:

6-8 c. sliced apples
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. flour
4 tbsp. tapioca

Mix flour, shortening and salt. Combine egg, water and vinegar. Pour liquid into flour mixture until moistened. Roll out half of the dough to fit a cookie sheet.

Cover with sliced apples and mixture of sugar, cinnamon, flour and dot with butter. Cover with remaining dough. Brush top of crust with canned milk (evaporated).

Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes. Finish baking at 375 degrees for 25 minutes. Frost with glaze (powdered sugar, vanilla, and water mixed) while hot. Cut into squares. Freezes well.
