BAKED CARAMEL POPCORN 
1 c. butter
2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. syrup (light or dark) (we use King)
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
6 qts. popped corn

Melt butter. Stir in sugar, syrup, and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Then boil without stirring for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in baking soda and vanilla. Pour over popped corn and mix well. Put into 2 large, shallow pans. Bake at 250 degrees for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Remove from oven to cool and break up.

Variation: Raw peanuts may be put into the syrup before you start the boiling process.
