HEART SUGAR COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 lg. egg
1 tbsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
Pink or red colored sugar
Icing (optional)

Heat oven to 325 degrees. In medium bowl, with electric mixer, beat butter, sugar, egg and vanilla until fluffy. Beat in flour. Refrigerate dough, tightly wrapped at least 1 hour. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut heart shapes with cookie cutter. Place cookies 1/2 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until edges just turn brown. Makes 3 dozen (2 1/2 inch) hearts. Sprinkle with colored sugar.
