1 c. brown sugar
3 slices buttered bread, cut in cubes

Put brown sugar and bread cubes in top of double boiler. Place on top:

2 or 3 beaten eggs
Dash of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. milk

Pour over bread. Cook for 1 hour. Serve hot with Hard Sauce (below).

HARD SAUCE:

1 c. confectionery sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Combine ingredients and cream well. Put in bowl, run fork on top. Add nutmeg. Put in refrigerator for 2 hours.
