MY MOTHER'S FRUECHTEN KUCHEN
(Brot) FRUITCAKE
 
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. sifted flour
6 eggs, separated
Juice from half a lemon
Lemon rind
3/4 c. light raisins
3/4 c. walnuts, chopped
Some candied orange peel, lemon peel & cherries

Beat egg yolks and sugar. Add flour, lemon juice and grated lemon rind. Mix in fruit and chopped walnuts. The very last fold, fold in beaten egg whites. Beat at 350 degrees about 35 minutes in a greased loaf pan. If you double the recipe, bake in a 12 inch tube pan.
