1 c. starter
1 c. sugar
1 c. sliced peaches, drained

Ferment 2 weeks. Add to above: 1 c. sugar

Ferment 2 weeks. Add to above: 1 c. cherries with juice

Ferment 2 weeks. Let this stand in jar outside in kitchen.

CAKE:

2 c. sugar
1 c. Wesson oil
1 stick butter
3 eggs, well beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
3 1/2 c. plain flour
2 c. broken pecans rolled in flour
1 tbsp. vanilla

Drain fruit well. Combine sugar, oil, and butter. Blend in eggs. Add dry ingredients and fold in fruit, nuts, and vanilla. Bake in tube pan for 1 hour 15 minutes at 325 degrees.

When fruit is drained, reserve syrup as starter.

(Cake dough will be very, very thick - cannot use electric mixer.)
