AMISH FRIENDSHIP CAKE | |
1 c. flour 1 c. sugar 1 c. milk Starter should be kept in large bowl with a loose cover. Stir daily. Mixture will bubble. Do NOT use electric mixer and do NOT refrigerate. It takes 10 days to make. Day 1, 2, 3, 4 stir. Day 5, add: 1 c. sugar 1 c. milk Day 6, 7, 8, 9 stir. Day 10, add: 1 c. sugar 1 c. milk Now remove 3 cups of starter; place into 3 small containers. Give each to a friend with a copy of these directions. Then add to the remaining batter: 3 eggs 2 c. flour 1 c. sugar 2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. baking powder 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda Stir mixture until smooth. Bake in greased and floured bundt or oblong pan at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes. Test for doneness after 35 minutes. You may add apples, raisins, dates, nuts, etc. to the final mixture. |
