FREEZER COLESLAW | |
1 med. cabbage, shredded 1 carrot, grated 1 green pepper, chopped 1 tsp. salt DRESSING: 1 c. vinegar 1/4 c. water 2 c. sugar 1 tsp. celery seed 1 tsp. whole mustard seed Mix the salt with the cabbage. Allow this to stand for 1 hour, then squeeze out the excess moisture. Add the carrot and pepper. While the cabbage is standing, make the dressing. Dressing: Combine the ingredients and boil for 1 minute. Cool to lukewarm. Pour over the slaw mixture. Put into containers. Cover and freeze. The above dressing is also a good marinade for sliced tomatoes and sweet onion. |
