CHERRY CHEESECAKE BARS 
1 pkg. cake mix (butter recipe is good)
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 egg
1/4 c. chopped pecans (optional)

Combine cake mix, butter, and egg until crumbly. Add pecans. Press in an ungreased 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees about 6 minutes until set, not browned.

FILLING:

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1/4 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 (16 oz.) can cherry pie filling

In a small bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and egg. Mix until smooth. Pour over crust. Spoon on cherry pie filling. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Cool. Best if refrigerated overnight.
