FLOUR TORTILLAS | |
2 c. of all-purpose flour 1 tsp. of baking powder 3/4 to 1 c. lukewarm water 1 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. shortening (lard) Combine flour, salt and baking powder. Cut in shortening until mixture is coarse. Add 1/2 the water and work into the dough. Then gradually add the remaining water as needed, working dough until you have a smooth, firm ball. Knead several times. Divide dough into 8 to 10 small balls. Heat ungreased griddle to very hot. Roll out balls into about a 6 inch circle and cook on hot griddle, lightly browning one side and then turning over and lightly browning other side. |
