DATE PUDDING 
1 c. boiling water
1 c. dates, cut up
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. nuts, chopped

TOPPING:

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. warm water
1/2 c. chopped dates

Pour boiling water over dates with soda. Let cool. Mix butter and sugar. Stir in egg, flour and baking powder. Add cooled dates and nuts. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes in a 9x13 Pyrex.

Top with topping that you make by cooking sugar, water and dates until it is thick heavy syrup. Pour over the pudding in pan just as it comes from the oven. Serve with whipped cream.
