EASY CREAM CHEESE COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 (3 oz.) cream cheese (softened)
1 c. granulated sugar
2 1/2 c. flour
1 egg yolk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. finely ground nuts

Cream shortening. Add cream cheese and sugar. Mix well until smooth. Add egg yolk, vanilla, salt and flour. Add nuts.

Shape teaspoonfuls of dough into small balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten with fork or bottom of a glass. Bake at 375 degrees for about 15 minutes. Cookies should be light in color.
