2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. butter flavor Crisco
3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 c. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Cream shortening and eggs until fluffy. Add sugars and vanilla. Combine flour, salt and baking soda. Gradually add to egg and shortening mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by teaspoonful onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 9 to 11 minutes.

Makes 5 dozen.
