SOUR MILK DOUGHNUTS | |
4 eggs, beaten 2 c. sugar 2 c. sour milk 4 tbsp. melted butter 4 c. sifted flour 4 tsp. baking powder 2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. nutmeg Sifted flour To the beaten eggs, add sugar, sour milk and melted butter. Sift the dry ingredients with the 4 cups of flour and gradually add to the sour milk mixture. Then add as much of the sifted flour as needed to make a soft dough, about 3-4 cups. Chill all the dough or roll and cut to 1/4 inch thickness with 2 1/2 inch doughnut cutter. Fry. Makes 8 dozen and freezes well. |
