CRUMBLE TOP APPLE PIE | |
4-5 tart apples, peeled and sliced Dash salt 1/3 c. granulated sugar 1/3 c. brown sugar 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 2 tbsp. butter CRUMB CRUST: 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. chopped walnuts 3/4 c. all-purpose flour For filling: Combine salt, sugar and cinnamon. Place apples in a well greased 9 inch pie pan. Top with sugar mixture, dot with butter. For crumb topping: Mix butter, sugar, walnuts and flour until it resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle crumbs over filling. Bake at 400 for 50-55 minutes or until apples are tender and crumb crust is golden and baked. Serve hot or warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. |
