OLD SETTLER'S BAKED BEANS | |
1/2 lb. bacon, cut in pieces 1 onion, coarsely chopped 1 lb. ground beef 1 (15 oz.) can red kidney beans, drained 1 (15 oz.) can pork & beans 1 (15 oz.) can butter beans, drained 1/4 c. firmly packed light brown sugar 1/4 c. sugar 1/4 c. catsup 1/4 c. barbecue sauce 2 tbsp. prepared mustard 2 tbsp. molasses 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 1/2 tsp. chili powder Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Fry bacon in medium-size skillet until crisp. Remove from pan and drain. Saute onion in bacon drippings. Remove from pan and drain. Brown beef and drain well. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and stir well. Turn into a lightly greased 4 quart baking dish. Cover and bake 1 hour. Serves 6 to 8. |
