TUNA AND SHELLS CASSEROLE | |
8 oz. macaroni shells (cooked as directed) 4 tbsp. butter 4 tbsp. flour 3 c. milk 1 tsp. parve chicken flavored powder 16 1/2 can tuna, drained Dash of pepper 1/4 c. parsley, finely chopped Melt the butter in saucepan over low heat. Add the flour and mix until smooth. Add the milk to this and stir. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and begins to boil. Remove from heat. Add chicken-flavored powder, pepper, tuna (broken up), parsley, and mix well. Add mixture to cooked shells in large pot or bowl. Turn everything into a 2 quart casserole sprayed with non-stick spray. Bake in oven at 375 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Serves 4. The white sauce can also be made in the microwave so you don't have to stand and stir. Melt butter on High-1 minute and add flour to butter, mix until smooth. Cook flour-butter combination about 45 seconds. Add milk, stir and cook on High 10 to 12 minutes, stirring three times during that period. |
