CHOCOLATE REFRESHER BARS | |
1 1/4 c. flour 3/4 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/4 c. dates, in pieces 3/4 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. water 6 to 8 oz. chocolate chips 2 unbeaten eggs 1/2 c. orange juice 1/2 c. milk 1 c. chopped nuts Sift dry ingredients together. Combine dates, brown sugar, water, and butter in large saucepan. Cook over low heat and stir until dates soften. Remove from heat. Stir in chips; beat in eggs. Add dry ingredients alternately with orange juice and milk. Blend thoroughly after each addition. Stir in nuts. Bake in greased 10 x 15 x 1 inch pan at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. GLAZE: 2 sq. unsweetened chocolate 2 tbsp. butter, soft 1 c. powdered sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla Enough water or milk to make glaze You may use cocoa. |
