1/2 c. shortening
1 2/3 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. milk
1/2 c. nutmeats

Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla together. Beat in eggs then chocolate. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with flour and milk. Chill.

Form into balls and roll in confectioners' sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Be sure to grease cookie sheet well.
