CARAMEL CHOCOLATE BARS 
2/3 c. evaporated milk
18 oz. box German chocolate cake mix
1 1/2 sticks butter, softened
1 c. pecans, chopped
6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
14 oz. pkg. light caramels

Mix 1/3 cup evaporated milk with cake mix and butter with electric mixer until dough holds together. Stir in nuts. Press half the dough into 9x13x2 inch pan. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 6 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate chips over crust.

Combine 1/3 cup evaporated milk with caramels in a bowl. Microwave on high for 4 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Pour caramel mixture over and spread evenly. Crumble rest of cake mix on top. Bake 15 to 18 minutes more. Cool. Chill for 30 minutes before cutting. Makes approximately 4 dozen.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
