BAKED MACARONI AND CHEESE | |
1 pkg. macaroni 2 1/2 tbsp. butter 2 1/2 tbsp. flour 2 1/2 c. milk 1 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 1/2 lb. yellow American cheese, diced or grated 1/3 c. bread crumbs 1 1/2 tbsp. melted butter Cook macaroni as directed. Melt butter in heavy saucepan. Blend in flour. Stir milk in slowly; heat to simmering, being careful not to burn. Add seasonings and cheese; stir until smooth. Add drained macaroni and transfer to a shallow, buttered baking dish. Sprinkle with bread crumbs mixed with melted butter. Bake 20 minutes in 400 degrees oven. Makes 4 to 6 servings. |
