OYSTER STEW 
1 pt. oysters
1 qt. water
Salt pork
Cornmeal dumplings

Cut salt pork into very small pieces. Fry out dry. Bring water to boil, add drippings and the salt pork also. To this add small cornmeal dumplings, about 4. Cook slowly for 8 minutes. Pour in oysters along with the liquor. Do not wash oysters. Cook for 5 minutes longer, starting at boiling point. Serves 4.
