BEEF SHORT RIBS 
2 lb. beef short ribs
1/2 onion
1 bay leaf
Salt and pepper
1 celery stalk
1/2 green pepper
1 garlic clove
1 c. catsup
1/4 c. red wine
2 tbsp. chili powder
1 c. beef broth

Simmer short ribs with 1/2 onion, salt, and pepper for 1 1/2 hours. Saute vegetables and seasonings. Add 1 cup broth. Put ribs in casserole. Cover with sauce. Good with mashed potatoes and greens.
