2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
3 eggs
1/2 c. cocoa
2/3 c. coffee (liquid)
1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in coffee
2 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. boiling water, added last

Cream butter, sugar and egg. Add cocoa and dry ingredients. Add coffee and soda mixture, then vanilla in boiling water; mix well. Bake in 9 x 13 inch pan at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
