BUTTERCREAM ICING 
1/2 c. solid vegetable shortening
1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
5 c. confectioners' sugar
3 tbsp. milk

Cream butter and shortening. Add vanilla. Gradually add sugar, one cup at a time. When all the sugar has been mixed in, icing will appear dry. Add milk and beat on high until light and fluffy.
