MRS. FIELD'S CHOCOLATE CHIP
COOKIES

1 lb. butter, softened
2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. white sugar
2 tbsp. vanilla
3 eggs
6 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
4 c. chocolate chips (or 12 oz. is okay)
2 c. diced nuts

Using a large bowl, mix (on low speed) butter, brown sugar and white sugar. Add vanilla and eggs and beat well. In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt and baking soda. Add the flour mixture to the sugar mixture. The dough will become sticky and very dry so sometimes mixing with bare hands works best.

Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Stir well. Drop by small ice cream scoop onto greased cookie sheet. Cook at 350°F for 8-10 minutes or until cookie begins to turn slightly golden brown. No matter the size, take the cookies out of the oven when the golden brown highlight appears. If you use butter, it may take a little longer.

Makes 5 dozen large cookies.
