MOM'S POPCORN BALLS 
4 1/2 qts. popped popcorn
1 c. dark Karo syrup
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. baking soda

Cook Karo syrup, sugar and cream of tartar to soft ball stage (234°F-240°F°F). Remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla and mix well. Then add baking soda and stir well. Pour over popcorn and shape into balls.
