BESSIE'S BUTTERMILK FUDGE 
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. light corn syrup
1 stick butter
1 c. chopped nuts

Blend soda and buttermilk; stir well. Pour sugar into large boiler. Add buttermilk mixture, corn syrup, and butter. Bring to a boil and cook to 240 degrees on candy thermometer or to a medium ball stage. Remove from heat; beat well. Stir in nuts; beat well. Pour into buttered dish or drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper.
