ONION AND CHEESEBURGERS 
1 1/2 lb. ground lean beef
1 tbsp. instant minced onion
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground black pepper

Combine ingredients and shape into 12 patties, each 4 inches in diameter and 1/4 inch thick. Place a slice of American cheese over 6 of the patties. Cover with remaining meat. Press the edges together well to prevent the cheese from oozing out while cooking (either in pan, under broiler or over grill). Serve in warm split hamburger buns. Exchange: 4 meat and 2 bread exchanges.

Note: Ground meat patties may be filled with various items such as flavored cheese, sauteed mushrooms and onions, green peppers and relishes.

Meat loaf variations: To give distinctive flavor to meat loaf, add 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice or 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom along with other seasonings for 2 pounds of meat. Change your favorite recipes for variety.
