JOHNNY CORNBREAD | |
1 c. yellow cornmeal 1/2 c. sugar Pinch salt 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cream of tartar 1 c. milk 1 well beaten egg 1 tbsp. honey Pinch of ground ginger 1 tbsp. melted butter Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Sift the cornmeal, sugar, salt, soda, ginger, and cream of tartar together into a bowl. Add all other ingredients, and stir together until well mixed. Pour this mixture into a greased shallow baking pan or into cast iron cornstick molds that you have heated in the oven and then greased. Fill the stick molds only 3/4 full. Bake 30 minutes. (I made this with preschool. It is probably not like any cornbread you have eaten. It is sweet!) |
