APPLE-CHEESE CASSEROLE 
1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter
7 med. apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1/4 c. plus 2 tbsp. water
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1 c. (4 oz.) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

Combine flour, sugar, and salt; mix well. Cut in butter with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.

Toss apples with water and lemon juice. Spoon into a lightly greased 8-inch square baking dish. Sprinkle flour mixture over apples. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Top with cheese; bake an additional 5 minutes. Yield: 8 servings.
